Cranberry Catsup (Makes 2 and 1/2 cups)

When it comes to choosing food gifts, this cranberry condiment is first class. It’s quick to fix, tastes delicious, fat free, quite inexpensive, pretty and uses everyday ingredients. I like to fill small recycled jars with this creative catsup to share with family and friends.

1 (16-ounce) can jellied cranberry sauce
1/4 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1 tablespoon flour
2 tablespoons water

1. In medium saucepan, combine cranberry sauce, vinegar, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and allspice.

2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

3. Stir together flour and water.

4. Add flour paste to cranberry mixture, cooking and stirring until it thickens.

5. Pour into desired containers.

6. Cover and chill to develop flavors.

7. Serve with poultry, pork, ham or cream cheese and crackers
